Extreme exaggeration
What is a Euphemism?
A nice way of saying something
What is a Dysphemism?
A mean or harsh way of saying something

A pleasant sounding word, phrase, or line
What is a Cacophony?
A harsh or ugly-sounding word, phrase, or line
What is an Onomatopoeia?
A word that is a sound.
What is Alliteration?
Repetition of the first sounds of words

Repetition of the Consonant (non-vowel) sounds
What is Assonance?
Repetition of the Vowel sounds
What is a Caesura?
When punctuation creates a pause for the reader in the middle of a line of poetry
What is End-stopped?
When a punctuation creates a pause for the reader at the end of a line of poetry
What is Enjambment?
When there is no punctuation at the end of a line of poetry so the reader does not pause between lines.
