What is a simile
A simile is a figure of speech comparing two things with the words like or as.
What is a metaphor
A metaphor is a figure of speech someone uses to say something is something else.
What is a caesura
A caesura is a break or pause between words.
What is enjabment
Enjabment is continueing a sentence without stopping until the end of the line
What is tone
Tone is how the poem is designed to make someone feel wether it is sad and depressing or cheerful and upeat.
What is tonal shift
Tonal shift is when the tone can change from being happy to deppressing or being deppressing to terrorfing.
What is iambic pentametre
A line in poetry that combines short(unstressed) syllables with long(stressed) syllables.
What is personification
Personification is when you give an inanimate object a human quality.
What is alliteration
Alliteration is when someone writes lots of words starting with the same letter.
What is a rhyme scheme
A rhyme scheme is the way rhyming in a poem goes like an aabb or abba rhyme scheme.
What is rhythm
Rhythm is the pace of a poem whether its consistant or not.
What is repetition
Repetition is using one word more than once.Like in Timothy Winters where at the end it says “amen amen amen amen.”
What is onomatopoeia
Onomatopoeia is a word formed from a sound.
What is slang
Slang is words or phrases thought to be very informal.
What is colloquial language
A type of speech that is informal and mainly used talking to friends and family.
