a poem which doesn’t follow any rules but focuses more on describing a scene or idea.
free verse
a poem that tells a story.
narrative
A three line nature poem with a 5-7-5 syllable pattern(does NOT rhyme.)
haiku
the way the poem is laid out on a page, the rhyme scheme and rhythm of the poem,along with a set of rules each specific type of poem must follow.
form/structure
comparing two things using “like” or “as”.
simile
comparing two things WITHOUT using “like” or “as”.
metaphor
giving non-human things human qualities.
personification
an extreme exaggeration.
hyperbole
a reference to a famous book, film or poem.
allusion
using descriptive words and phrases to create a picture in the readers mind.
imagery
the feeling of a word despite its definition(usually positive or negative.)
connotation
