What is imagery?
Imagery is descriptive language that appeals to the senses.
What are they types of imagery and describe them?
Visual - Imagery that stimulates the sense of sight
Auditory - Imagery that stimulates the sense of hearing
Olfactory - Imagery that stimulates the sense of smell
Tactile - Imagery that stimulates the sense of touch
Gustatory - Imagery that stimulates the sense of taste
Describe “visual imagery”
Visual imagery is imagery that makes the reader see what the author is describing.
Describe “auditory imagery”
Auditory imagery is imagery that makes the reader hear what the author is describing.
Describe “olfactory imagery”
Olfactory imagery is imagery that makes the reader smell what the author is describing.
Describe “tactile imagery”
Tactile imagery is imagery that makes the reader feel (physically) what the author is describing.
Describe “gustatory imagery”
Gustatory imagery is imagery that makes that reader taste what the author is describing.
What are the types of metaphors?
Metaphor, Simile, Personification, Symbol
Describe what a “metaphor” is.
A metaphor describes something in a way that is not literally true for symbolic effect.
Describe what a “simile” is.
A simile is comparing on thing with another thing us the word “like” or “as”.
Describe what “personification” is.
Personification is when human qualities are given to an animal, object or an idea.
Describe what a “symbol” is.
A symbol is something that stands for or represents a larger concept or idea.
What are the types of irony?
Irony, Hyperbole, Juxtaposition, Paradox, Oxymoron

Irony is the opposite of what is expected.
