Punctuation
Like syllable stresses and lines, commas, periods, semicolons, or other marks can influence the musicality of a line of poetry
End-stopped
A break at the end of the line denoted by a comma, period, semicolon, or other mark
Enjambment
A sentence or clause that runs onto the next line without a break, creating a sense of suspense or excitement and adding emphasis to the word at the end of the line
Repetition
Words, sounds, phrases, lines, or elements of syntax may repeat with in a poem; it can be used to enhance an element or meaning, but other times it can dilute or dissipate meaning
Refrain
A phrase or group of lines repeated at significant moments with in a poem, usually at the end of a stanza
