What is a dramatic monologue?
A poem which presents a single single speaker as though they are speaking directly to an imagined audience.
What is the effect of dramatic monologue in my last duchess?
To comment on the way marriage was conducted in the period and to show the powerlessness of women.

What is a blank verse poem
A poem consisting mainly of unrhymed iambic pentameter.

What is iambic pentameter?
A line of poetry with ten syllables in it, with pairs of stressed and unstressed syllables.
Resembles a heartbeat.
What is a sonnet ?
Sonnets have fourteen lines, usually written in iambic pentameter.
They have two parts, with a different rhyme scheme in each, and a change in tone or meaning called a volta.
An example of a sonnet
Ozymandias- the volta is the words “nothing beside remains”
