Allegory
A poem with a hidden meaning often political or moral
Anaphora
A word referring to a word previously used in the poem.
Antithesis
A direct opposite, binary.
Anagnorisis
The point in the play where the protagonist realises another characters true intentions.
Opulent
Costly and luxurious.
Antecedent
Previously existing.
Dichotomy
Two contrasting things.
Assonance
Resemblance of sound between syllables of nearby words.
Ballad
A poem telling a story in short stanzas.
Bathos
An anticlimax created following a dramatic moment, usually for comedic relief.
Cacophony
A harsh discordant mixture of sounds.
Consonance
Agreement or compatability of actions or opinions.
Elegy
A poem of serious refelection, typically a lament for the dead.
Enjambment
The continuation of a sentace without the pause beyond a line.
