What is a stanza?
A stanza is paragraph or group of lines
What is meter
Meter is a pattern of stressed/ unstressed syllables
What is an iambic
An iambic is pattern of unstressed (U) stressed (/)
What is iambic pentameter?
Iambic pentameter is when you have 5 sets of unstressed, stressed syllables (10 syllables total)
What is Rhythm?
Rhythm is a beat created by the sound of the word in the poem.
What is free verse?
Free verse is when there is no rhythm, or rhyme.
What is blank verse?
Blank verse is when iambic pentameter is used but does not end rhyme
What is rhyme?
Words that sound alike
What is End rhyme?
End rhyme is when the word at the end of the line rhymes
What is Internal rhyme?
Internal rhyme is when the middle of the word rhymes
What is near rhyme/ slant rhyme?
Near rhyme/ slant rhyme is imperfect rhyme, same vowel or consonant
What is Rhyme scheme?
Rhyme scheme is the pattern of rhyme, usally end rhyme
What is an onomatopoeia?
An onomatopoeia is when a word creates a sound ex: Buzz
What is alliteration?
Alliteration is when consonant sound is repeated at the beginning of words
What is assonance?
Assonance is a repeats vowel
