1500 litres per minute
What is the flow rate of a wet rising main?
1500 litres per minute for 45 minutes
Where should the bridgehead be located?
two floors below fire floor (unless pre-planning/specific design features allows for safe air)
Who can be a fire sector commander?
minimum CM
What is the minimum staff required for starting a bridgehead?
The fire sector commander will take three firefighters to the bridgehead (two BA, one BAECO)
What equipment is required at the bridgehead?
x2 lengths 45 and carrying straps Immediate Emergency Care (IEC) pack x2 BA sets Long line Breaking in gear BA board Thermal imaging camera F.I.R.E bag

When can the message “high-rise procedure implemented” be sent?
When:
- Location of bridgehead has been risk assessed
- access and egress has been secured and maintained to/from the bridgehead
- The bridgehead is established with x2 charged jets deployed
Where should the initial BA team’s charged branch be supplied from?
Rising main outlet one floor below the fire
How many lengths should the second jet be?
at least one hose length longer than the first
What are door marker tags/crayons used for?
Designate rooms/flats that have been cleared by crews
What should a safety officer, working outside, check for?
- Falling debris
- Cordon maintenance for personnel, other agencies and public
- External fire spread
What equipment can be used following communication difficulties at a high rise incident?
Radio repeaters, leaky feeders and hand held digital main scheme radios
