PMCC Hypothesis L Flashcards

1
Q

What’s going on PMCC

A

You sampling randomly from a parent
- find a correlation coeffiencet if sample
- and you want to see if this is strong enough such that you can say the parent population also has certain correlation too

Q

Why does the sample not mean your parent is encarily the sam

A

If sample was done such that it might like negative correlated when it’s acc positive

Q

What happens to critical values as samp size increases? Why problem

A

As sample increase critical values decrease and get really slow

Hence the PMCC r value does not have to be that big to reject the null hypothesis

This is a problem because you could easilly reject when there is no connection what do ever!

Q

Coen effect size

A

So when n is large and PMCC are close to these values , say the effect based on that ( means correlation )
