Pluralism and theology Flashcards
Pluralism
Pluralism in theology refers to the belief that multiple religions can offer valid paths to salvation or ultimate truth. Challenges the idea that only one religion holds exclusive access to truth or God.
Exclusivism
Exclusivism in theology is the belief that only one religion is completely true and offers the only way to salvation or ultimate reality — usually, this means only Christianity
Inclusivism
Inclusivism is the view that salvation is only possible through Jesus Christ, but that explicit knowledge of Christ isn’t necessary. people outside Christianity can still be saved, even if they don’t know or accept Jesus in name.
Interfaith dialogue
Interfaith dialogue is the process of open and respectful conversation between people of different religions, with the aim of promoting understanding, peace, and cooperation, not conversion
John Hick
