What is business power?
The ability or capacity to produce an effect or to bring influence
What is the iron law of responsibility?
Those who do not use power in a manner that society considers responsible, will tend to lose it.

The govt sets the legal framework.

They manage the economy.

Left: market pessimist. Big govt. tax and govt spending
Right: market optimistic. Small govt. low tax. Market is left to its own devices.
What are the three models of corporate power?

Neocorporatist
Business dominance
Describe the pluralist model
Emphasis on the pluralist of Groups or interests seeking to influence the govt. power is fragmented and dispensed.
Describe neocorporatism model
Emphasises the importance of economic interests. (Business and labour) Tri partism or social partners.
Describe the business dominance model
Businesses occupies a privileged position in policy making, unmatched by any other group ‘control without trying’
Define pluralism
Refers to a diffusion of power among society’s many groups and organisations. The wide decentralisation and diversity of power.
