What is a vent?
A vent is a pipe or opening that provides for circulation of air in a plumbing system and reduces the pressure on trap seals.
A vent system must do what?
(A.) Maintain amospheric pressure in the system.
(B.) Prevent retardation of flow and loss of the seal at the trap.
(C.) Prevent swere gas from entering the building.
A trap works by having an:
** = amount of atmospheric pressure on both sides**
- From the air inside the building
- From the air in the vent
Pressure in a trap must not vary more than (?) of water column or its effectiveness will be threatened.
