act 1 (part 1)
- 3 witches plan to meet Macbeth
- Macbeth and Banquo meet the witches, who tell Macbeth he’ll be Thane of Cawdor, then King. They tell Banquo his descendants will be king
act 1 (part 2)
Duncan makes Macbeth Thane of Cawdor. Macbeth starts to wonder if the witches’ prophecy about him being king will come true
act 1 (part 3)
Macbeth tells Lady Macbeth about the prophecy. She plans to persuade him to murder Duncan
act 1 (part 4)
Duncan comes to stay with he Macbeths. Macbeth reluctant to kill him, but Lady Macbeth convinces him that they can frame Duncan’s servants for the murder. Macbeth agrees to the plan
act 2 + 3 (part 1)
Macbeth murders Duncan and Lady Macbeth plants blood-stained daggers on Duncan’s servants
act 2 + 3 (part 2)
Macduff arrives and discovers king’s body. The king’s sons, Malcom and Donalbain, leave Scotland because they fear for their lives- this makes them look guilty of Duncan’s murder
act 2 + 3 (part 3)
Ross and an old man discuss the strange unnatural things that have been happening since Duncan’s murder. Macbeth about to be crowned, but not all other noblemen support him
act 2 + 3 (part 4)
Macbeth now king,but he’s worried by the witches’ prophecy about Banquo’s descendants being kings. He orders murderers to kill Banquo and his son, Fleance
act 2 + 3 (part 5)
murderers kill Banquo, but Fleance escapes.. Macbeth hosts a feast and sees Banquo’s ghost. He decides to visit witches again
act 2 + 3 (part 6)
Lennox and a lord suspect Macbeth of murdering Duncan and Banquo. Thy say that Macduff is getting an army together to attack Macbeth and put Malcom on the throne
act 4 (part 1)
Macbeth visits 3 witches again and they summon 3 apparitions
act 4 (part 2)
each apparition makes a prophecy. The first warns Macbeth about Macduff, second tells him that ‘the power of man, for none of woman born shall harm Macbeth’ and the third tells him that he can’t be beaten until Birnam Wood moves to Dunsinane Hill
act 4 (part 3)
when Macbeth demands to know if Banquo’s children will ever rule Scotland the witches show him Banquo’s ghost and a line of kings who seem to be Banquo’s descendants
act 4 (part 4)
Macduff fled to England. Macbeth sends his murderers to kill Macduff’s wife and children
act 4 (part 5)
in England, Macduff proves his loyalty to Malcom, and Malcom reveals that the English king has given him 10,000 soldiers to fight Macbeth. Macduff learns that Macbeth has killed his family, and vows to avenge their deaths
