Exposition
The first part of the plot.
Inciting Incident
The event that sets the story in motion.
Rising Action
Main part of the story and moves the plot along.
Climax
The most exciting or intense part of the story for the protagonist and the turning point.
Falling Action
Events that follow the climax and lead to the resolution.
Resolution
The end of the story and loose ends of the plot are tied up and conflicts are resolved.
Setting
Where or when a story takes place.
Protagonist
The leading character in a novel.
Plot
The events (exposition,rising,action climax,and resolution.
Antagonist
The opposing force that brings conflict to the protagonist.
Complications (conflict)
The struggle between opposing forces.This drives the stay.
Foreshadowing
Hints or clues suggesting what may happen in the story.
Cliffhanger
An ending to a section, chapter, or book that the leaves the reader wondering.
Suspense
The anxiety a reader feels about what may happen next in a story.
Flashback
Interrupting the plot of the story to recreate an incident form an earlier time.
