what is plot?
The series of events in which a story’s character comes upon obstacles ending in a conclusion
What is exposition?
The beginning of a story when we learn important background info like setting, and the situation.
What is rising action
Section of the plot leading up to the climax.
what is climax?
The point which the story’s suspense, emotions, and tensions peak.
what is falling action
Period of time in the story that follows the climax and leads to the resolution
what is denouement
Part of the plot that is the shortest.
What is narrative
Spoken or written account of events that make a story
what is conflicts
disagreements or arguments
what is setting
The time place and duration of the story that the author chose to write about
what is suspense
A state of feeing anxious or excited not knowing what’s going to happen next
What is comedy
A storytelling drama that uses laughter and humor in order to entertain or use.
What is tragedy
an event causing great suffering, destruction, and distress, such as a serious accident, crime, or natural catastrophe
What is resolution
the conclusion of the story by the resolving of conflicts between characters
What is in medias res
Latin for “in the middle of things” a technique in which a narrative begins in the middle of the action
What is flashbacks
An interruption in the stories plot to give additional information or backstory to tell us more about a situation or character.
