- Prospero makes Ferdinand a slave

Act 2 Scene 1
A
- Nobles discuss their plan - Gonzalo attempts to cheer them up
- Antonio and Sebastian mock Gonzalo’s optimism
- Talks about colonising the island
- Alonso thinks Ferdinand is dead and he blames himself
- Antonio and Sebastian come up with a plot to kill Alonso and Gonzalo
- They attempt the murder but Ariel wakes up the others

Act 2 Scene 2
A
- Caliban is working and then hides after he thinks he sees a spirit
- Trinculo is introduced drunk, hears a storm and hides with Caliban
- Stephano enters drunk and finds them hiding
- They get Caliban drunk
- Caliban begins to worship Stephano, making Trinculo jealous
- They hatch a plan to kill Prospero, rape Miranda and rule the island

Act 3 Scene 1
A
- Ferdinand is working for Prospero
- Miranda tells him to stop
- Miranda’s virginity is a prize
- They get engaged and Prospero allows it

A
- Stephano becomes drunk with power
- Trinculo is irritated with jealousy
- Ariel causes disharmony
- Stephano slaps Trinculo
- Caliban shows a sensitive side - calms them down

Act 3 Scene 3
A
- Gonzalo and Alonso are tired and weak
- Antonio and Sebastian see an opening
- Anti-masque
- Banquet appears and they are happy
- Ariel appears as a Harpy and reprimands the men
- Nobles begin to repent

Act 4 Scene 1
A
- Prospero approves of Miranda and Ferdinand’s marriage as long as he doesn’t just use her for sex
- Prospero gives Ariel one last task of conjuring the masque
- Gods enter and a marriage scene is played out
- Prospero remembers Caliban’s plot
- Prospero as a monologue about how the play is almost finished and how he becoming old and frail - Shakespeare’s farewell
- The drunks arrive at Prospero’s cell
- Prospero conjures dogs to scare them and then is angry

Act 5 Scene 1
A
- All the plots culminate
- Ariel guilt-trips Prospero into redemption
- Prospero’s renounces his magic
- Prospero begins to forgive nobles and grants Ariel freedom
- Reveals Miranda and Ferdinand playing chess
- Ship workers are woken up
- Caliban expects punishment and realises that Stephano and Trinculo were bad influences
- Prospero delivers one final speech, asking for the audience to set him free
