Build up tension and explores power dynamics
- one character will have the upper hand and half way through it often shifts
Often leads to action such as leaving the stage or something more

A
Oedipus as the ruler and sometimes it’s physically such as threatening
However this is inverted when someone had the knowledge he needs for example the shepherd

Change of fate or fortune
- for Oedipus it’s learning his fate
