How do you check for heat damage on the aerial assembly, after it has been exposed to extreme heat during operation?
Direct attention to ladder slide pads, cables, seals, and hydro lines. Also, check heat indicators.
What is normal hardness rating for the aerial platform?
78 to 82 (if falls to 70, call E-One. If falls to 60, remove from service and call E-One immediately).
Where should the operator of the platform, positioned at the aerial or pump control station, be standing during operation?
On the anti-electrocution platform, in case the device comes in contact with a power line.
Is the use of the aerial during a lightning storm allowed?
Generally no, but if an emergency condition dictates the aerial be used, take extreme caution.
Normal function of the interlock system will not allow operation of the aerial until what?
Until outriggers are properly set.
The aerial must be completely drained before it can be retracted. What position must it be in to drain?
Aerial must be fully extended to complete platform draining.
What is the vertical height of the elevating platform?
100 feet.
What is the aerial extension indicator?
Reflective tape on the top handrail of the base station, indicates extension in 5 foot increments.
What is the body protection system?
A control system that prevents the aerial device to come in contact with the body or cab during low level operations.
What is the rated weight capacity of the elevating platform?
1305 pounds (1000 pounds for personnel, 305 for equipment mounted at tip of aerial).
What is the flow capacity of the elevating platform?
Platform is capable of delivering a 1250 gpm master stream from the platform, while carrying a max of 500 pounds.
What is the max spread distance of the stabilizers?
15 feet 6 inches (centerline to centerline).
What is the tip-over safety margin the stabilizers?
1 1/2 times the rated load with aerial in any position.
What does the waterway relief valve prevent?
Over-pressurization of waterway system.
