Occurs when two tectonic plates move away from each other

A
Occur where lithospheric plates slide past each other and where the crust is neither destroyed nor formed

A
If two continental plates collide, neither can sink and so the land buckles upwards to form fold mountains

A
An area of the Earth’s mantle from which hot plumes rise upward, forming volcanoes on the overlying crust
