What is the Divergent Plate Boundary?
When 2 plate spread apart from each other allowing magma to raise to the surface.
What was Divergent Plate Boundary’s form?
Ridges which eventually forms volcanoes
What does Divergent Plate Boundary’s do to the ocean?
Allows the ocean to spread outwards.
What is a Transform Plate Boundary?
When 2 plates move against each other
What is a Convergent Plate Boundary?
When the heavier Oceanic plate dives under the Continental plate. They come together.
When is Accretion?
When the continental plate builds/ adds to the oceanic plate.
What is the famous example of Water Erosion?
Grand Canyon
What is Weathering?
Breaking down rocks into smaller pieces.
What is frost wedging?
When water drips into a crack and it freezes. The ice will then expand.
What is Seed/ Root wedging?
When a seed or root gets into a cracks and starts to grow.
What is Mechanical Weathering?
Physical Process on the rock that breaks it down. Doesn’t change the make up of the rock.
What is Erosion?
The movement of weathered materials. Materials that are taken from one place and moved somewhere else.
What is Chemical Weathering?
The chemical structure of the rock is changed. Making Carbonic acid.
What is Carbonic Acid?
Carbon+Water= Carbonic Acid. It will eventually completely dissolve rocks.
What is a form of chemical weathering?
Acid Rain
