Plant Macro Nutrients Flashcards
Nitrogen. N NO 3
Excess: few fruits brittle growth
DEFICIENCY: yellowing, red, purple intensify, reduced lateral bud breaks.
N : K 1:1 is normal
Phosphorus P
Excess: causes dificiency of Zn, FE, Co
deficiency: reduced growth browning thin stems , reduced lateral buds, loss lower leaves, reduced flowering. acid conditions fix with FE, Mg, AI, alkaline fix with Ca
Potassium K
Excess: causes N deficiency
Defficiency: Reduced growth, shortened internode growth, brown edges
N:K balance High N vegetative growth
High K promotes reproductive growth
Magnesium Mg
Excess interferes with Ca uptake
Defficiency: reduced growth, marginal chlorosis yellow between veins, copied leaves. epsom salts 1 teaspoon per gallon, Outdoor Dolomitic limestone outdoors.
calcium Ca
Excess causes high ph blocks absorption of other micronutrients.
Defficiency: inhibition bud growth, death root tip, leaf cupping, blossom- end rot
Important for ph control
Sulfur S
Excess : air pollution
Defficiency : yellowing of leaves or entire plant
