Plant and Plant Cycle Quiz Flashcards
What do plants need to survive?
- light
- air
- water
- nutrients
- space
What are nutrients?
Vitamins that are in food or water that help a plant grow.
What are flowers?
Part of a plant that makes fruits and seeds. (Some vegetables too.)
What are leaves?
-Use sunlight to make food.
-Help make food for the plant (glucose)
What is the stem?
The stem supports the plant and carries up water with nutrients too. Water with nutrients travels from the roots to all parts of the plant.
What are seeds?
Part of a plant that grows into another plant.
Seeds contain new plants. If taken care of, new plants will grow.
What are roots?
Roots act like anchors to keep the plant from flying away or breaking. They act like straws to soak up water and nutrients. They are buried into the ground to absorb water and nutrients.

A small baby plant that grows out of the ground. The roots stay underground (o in water, depending on the plant)
What is a life cycle?
The stages that living things go through.
What are the stages of a plant’s life cycle?
Seed -> Sprout-> Seedling-> Adult Plant
How does a plant grow into an adult plant from a seedling?
Roots expand. More leaves grow. Stem gets taller/longer.
What are the parts of a flower?
Petals, Stem, Leaves
What are the parts of a seed?
Seed coat, soil, food storage
