Plant And Human Reproduction Flashcards
Pollen
Contains sex cells. Produced by the stamens
Ovule (egg)
The female sex cell. Found in the ovary.
Pollination.
The transfers of pollen from the stamens to the stigma, either in the same or different flower.
Fertilisation
The joining of a pollen grain nucleus and ovule to form an embryo.
Seed
Structure containing the embryo of a new point.
Fruit.
The ovary develops into this after fertilisation, it surrounds the seed.
Carpel
All the female parts of a flower, made up of the stigma, style and ovary.
What makes up the stamen
The anther and filament.
What makes up the Carpel
Stigma,style and ovary
What are the 4 ways seed dispersal occurs
Wind
Animals
Explosion
Water
Plant organs
Plants have different organs to do different jobs
Leaves
Carry out photosynthesis and makes food
Roots
Absorb water and anchors the plant
Stem
Supports the leaves and transports water to them
Flower
Carries out sexual reproduction
What do insect pollinated flowers have
Bright colours, scents and nectars to attached insects
What do wind pollinated flowers have?
Long anthers to make lots of pollen and feathery stigmas to catch the pollen
Well done!!!!
You got this!!!!!
