Plant and Animal Cells Flashcards
What are different parts of a cell called?
Different parts of a cell are called Subcellular Structures.
What subcellular structures do most animal cells have?
Nucleus, Cytoplasm, Cell Membrane, Mitochondria, Ribosomes.
What’s the purpose of the Nucleus?
It contains genetic material, the genetic material controls what the cell does.
What’s the cytoplasm?
The cytoplasm is where most of the chemical reactions happen.
What does the cell membrane do?
Cell membrane controls what goes in and out of the cell.
What’s the purpose of mitochondria?
It’s where most aerobic respiration happens. Respiration transfers energy that the cell needs to work.
What do ribosomes do?
They make the protein in the cell.
What subcellular structures do most plant cells have?
Nucleus, Cytoplasm, Cell membrane, Mitochondria, Ribosomes, Cell Wall, Permanent Vacuole, Chloroplasts
What’s a cell wall made of?
A cell wall is made of cellulose.
What does a cell wall do?
It supports the cell and strengthens it.
What does a permanent vacuole contain?
Cell sap.
What happens in the chloroplasts?
They’re where photosynthesis happens, photosynthesis makes food for the plant.
What subcellular structures do bacterial cells have?
Cell Wall, Cell Membrane, Cytoplasm, A Single Of DNA(Bacteria don’t have a ‘true’ nucleus), Plasmids.
What are plasmids?
They’re small rings of extra DNA.
