How do you acutely manage AF?
A
Control rate with beta blocker, diltiazem, and consider digoxin or amiodarone

A
Young, symptomatic, first episode of AF, or due to a treated precipitant

How do you rhythm control in AF?
A
- pharmacological cardioversion: amiodarone IV over 2–120 mins with anti-coagulation if more than 48 hour onset
- electrical cardioversion if haemodynamically unstable

How do you rate control in AF?
A
- beta blocker, propanolol
- CCB, diltiazem
- digoxin (can be added as an adjunct)
