What is an SSSI/ASSI?

A

Site/Area of Special Scientific Interest: they are areas that have special wildlife or flora. Around 4,000 of them in England. Provide sanctuary for rare and endangered species.

What is a National Park?

A

The largest protected areas. There are currently 15 National Parks in the UK, with ~10,000,000 visiting annually. Each National Park has an NPA who must conserve natural beauty, wildlfe, cultural heritage and education opportunities.

What are the factors that contribute to increased urbanisation in LEDCs?

A

-Rural poverty: Pushes people out of the countryside to urban areas to look for work.-Natural disasters like droughts, and famine are primary causes of rural to urban migration. -Medical advances result in lower death rate. most migrants are young so raise the birth rate in cities.
