Planning & Action Flashcards
What are the 4 major types of apraxia?
Limb, oral, agraphic and constructional
What are apraxias?
Motor disorders in which there is difficulty in performing purposeful or voluntary movements
What is agraphic apraxia?
Particular type of writing deficit
Constructional apraxia?
Inability to copy mental or visual pictures
What does it mean by ideomotor apraxia?
Represent the inability to perform purposeful movement either to command or on imitation
Which brain regions are deficits associated with apraxia associated with?
Posterior parietal cortex
Frontal premotor cortex
Which areas of the posterior parietal cortex are associated with the selection and programming of actions?
5 and 7
What do the lateral premotor cortex and supplementary motor area have in common?
Connections with motor cortex and posterior parietal cortex
What is the supplementary motor area (SMA) particularly important for?
Bimanual coordination
Internally generated actions (no external cues)
What has been suggested to provide gut feeling?
Orbital region of the prefrontal cortex
