Section 7 (Unlawfully at large)

A

You may enter a place or vehicle in order to search for and arrest someone who is unlawfully at large if you
reasonably suspect that person is unlawfully at large and you believe that they are in that place or vehicle.

Section 8 (Loss of offender/evidence CADD)

A

You may enter a place or vehicle in order to search for and arrest someone you suspect has committed an
imprisonable offence. You must believe that the person is in the place or vehicle and believe that the person
will
ee to avoid arrest or that evidential material relating to the offence may be concealed, altered, damaged
or destroyed (CADD). This does not give you the power to search for the evidential material.

cause injury to any person, serious damage to or loss of property or there is a risk to the life or safety of any
person.

Section 20 (Drugs)

A

You may enter and search any place or vehicle for controlled drugs or precursor substances if you
reasonably believe that they are in or on that place or vehicle. You must also reasonably believe that it’s
not practical to get a warrant, that if you don’t carry out the search immediately then the evidential material
will be CADD and you must reasonably suspect that in or on the place or vehicle an offence against the
Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 has bee, is being or is about to be committed.
