What are the four functions of a Solution Architect in the presales process?
- Responding to questions about the Request for Proposal (RFP)
- Participating in the introductory customer meetings
- Providing support for crafting the Proof of Concept (POC)
- Envisioning solutions
What are the six functions of a Solution Architect in the Analysis/Design process?
- Leading requirement capture discussions with customer
- Reviewing captured requirements
- Designing the high-level architecture
- Designing a portion of the detail solution architecture.
- Reviewing technical designs
- Supporting change management efforts
What are the most common ways for a Solution Architecture to learn about the customer in discovery before an official meeting?
- Company public website
- Social media sites
- News outlets
- Review the RFP
What components are typically included within a Project Plan Summary?
- Problem statement/business objectives
- Scope
- Governance plans

When should a trial environment be used?
Trial environments should be used for short-term testing needs as they are automatically cleaned up after a brief period.
When should a sandbox environment be used?
Sandbox environments, when linked to a Microsoft Dataverse database instance, provide features like reset and are ideal for non-production purposes.
When should a production environment be used?
Production environments are meant for permanent work within an organization and can be created and owned by licensed administrators or Power Apps users.
When should a default environment be used?
Default environments are non-custom production environments that are automatically created for each tenant.
When should a developer environment be used?
Developer environments, exclusive to owners with a Community Plan license, are for individual use and cannot be shared with other users
What are the four different types of demos Solution Architects build and what is the purpose of each?
- Out-of-the-box demo: Highlights core product features without customizations, getting customers familiar with the app’s capabilities.
- Prebuilt demo: Tailors the out-of-the-box solution to specific verticals or solution areas, showcasing relevant features and hiding distractions.
- Prototype: Minimal tailoring of the app to reflect customer needs, helping the solution architect tell a relatable story during the demo.
- Proof of concept: Builds specific components or activities to prove the concept works, often done during design or presales phases.
What is the difference between a functional and non-functional requirement?
Functional requirements describe what the solution needs to do or its behaviors, while non-functional requirements focus on non-behavior aspects that are important for the solution’s architecture and operational viability. These aspects include performance requirements, such as network bandwidth and hardware compatibility, as well as factors like compliance and security.
