Explain how you would write out a scale - five things to remember
- All scales have 8 notes either ascending or descending
- The top and the bottom note are the SAME
- Each scale follows the alphabet, there is one note on every line and a space in between the bottom and top notes
- Sharps and flats are written to the LEFT of the note
- When notes are drawn below the middle line, their sticks should go UPWARDS, when notes are drawn above the middle line, their sticks should go DOWNWARDS
What is a TRIAD CHORD?
A group of 2 or more notes. It is a special chord of 3 notes.
What can Triad Chords be used for?
Carefully selected triad chords can be use to accompany a melody.
What would triads depend on?
The triads used would depend on what KEY your piece is in eg: G major, D major etc
Which triad chords are the most important?
I, IV and V - these are known as the primary chords
How do you choose which chord to write when writing ONE chord per bar?
Look at ALL the notes in the required bar of melody - find which primary chord contains all or most of these notes? Write the chord on the stave below the melody.
