Piper Warrior 3 Speeds Flashcards
Vg speed
The air speed at which an aircraft can glide the furthest for a given altitude .
The best glide speed .
73 kts
Glide distance approximately one nautical mile per 550 feet.
Va speed
The maximum speed at which an aircraft can safely deflect its flight controls without damaging its structure.
Maneuvering speed .
111-2440
88-1531
Vfe speed
Maximum flap extended speed.
The highest speed at which an aircraft can fly with its flap extended. It’s a safety limit that prevents structural damage to the aircraft flaps.
103 KIAS
Vy speed
The air speed that provides the best rates of climb for an aircraft.
The speed at which an aircraft gains the most altitude in the shortest amount of time.
79 KIAS
Vx speed
An aircraft speed that allows it to gain the most altitude in the shortest distance.
Also known as the best angle of climb.
0* flaps= 63 KIAS
25* flaps= 57 KIAS
Vso speed
The minimum speed at which an aircraft can fly in landing configuration.
Which is when the flaps and landing gear are extended. It’s also known as a stall speed in landing configuration.
44 KIAS
Vs1 speed
Minimum steady flight speed, or stall speed of an aircraft in a specific configuration.
Also known as the clean stall speed because it’s the speed at which the aircraft stalls with its flap and landing gear up.
50 KIAS
Vr speed
The speed at which a pilot initiates takeoff by lifting the nose of an aircraft off the runway.
Rotation speed
0* flaps=55
25* flaps=52
Vle speed
Maximum speed at which an aircraft can fly safely with its landing gear Extended.
It’s a critical speed limit that Pilot must adhere to especially when approaching for landing.
a piper warrior, don’t have one.
Vno speed
Maximum structural, cruising speed.
The fastest speed in aircraft can fly safely and calm air. It’s one of several speeds or specific air speeds that are important for safe flight.
125 KIAS
Vne speed
Never exceeded speed and is the maximum speed and aircraft should fly.
An important metric for Pilot to know, and is usually indicated by a red line on the aircraft air speed indicator.
