Q

How was the tape loop at the beginning of “Money” created?

A

Roger Waters recorded the sounds of ripping paper, coins being thrown into a mixing bowl, and an old cash register.
Cut the tape into 7 equal sections and spliced them together.

The finished loop was several metres long, and had to be looped around the stem of a microphone stand to keep it taut.
