What is the most likely Dx for the horse shown in this picture?
Ruptured Peroneus tertius
should look up a video of this since thats what the question really had, not a picture.

B) Medial Patellar ligament desmotomy. Good prognosis.
C) Lateral digital extensor myotenotomy. Guarded Prognosis.
D) External coaptation. Good prognosis.
E) None of the above.

Which statement is incorrect regarding the horse shown in this image?
A) the horse is presented with the shoulder subluxating laterally when weight bearing
B) medical tx should include stall rest, phenylbutazone and D.M.S.O
C) the prognosis for this condition is usually guarded
D) clinical signs include pain and crepitation during flexion test of the shoulder
E) none of the above

What segment of the intestinal tract is visualized on this picture?
Pelvic flexure
This type of deformity most often occurs in horses at what age?
A) 1 - 6 mos

This is a picture of bucked shins.
“Bucked shins” are part of the disease complex known as dorsal metacarpal disease. Bucked shins is a painful, acute periostitis on the dorsal surface of the third metacarpal bone. It is seen most often in the forelimbs of young Thoroughbreds (2-yr-olds) in training and racing, and less commonly in Standardbreds and Quarter horses. Bucked shins may be the result of high-strain cyclic fatigue caused by excessive compression on a bone that has not remodeled enough to tolerate the stress placed on it. Stressed bone forms a new layer of bone at the point of stress. This new bone is weaker and, in the process of rapid bone formation, the periosteum becomes elevated and inflamed.
This 3 yo mare was noticed to have this skin lesion. It has been present for over 12 mos and the owner requests your advice regarding cure rate with surgeyr alone. You should tell her ___ success rate up to 2 yrs after Sx.
A) 10%
B) 25%
C) 50%
D) 75%
E) 90%
C) 50% success rate up to 2yrs after Sx
T/F
This vertical skin wound has a better prognosis than a similar horizontal skin wound.
True
This is a full thickness teat laceration perforating the teat sinus.
Remember: more proximal = better blood supply = better prognosis
Vertical laceration = better prognosis
A racehorse has been injured during a storm. This lesion is observed and you notice damage to the skin and extensor muscles. How should this would be treated?
second intention wound healing
took this image out of the wound healing examples lecture. slide 48
i know there arent any extensor muscles showing in that image, give me a break.
This dairy cow suffers from complete anorexia and severe decrease in milk production. The area of tympanic resonance on the right side is a full circle from ribs 6 to beginning of paralumbar fossa.
This additional info is obtained: T 102F, HR 120bpm, RR 10 bpm, Cl- 71 mg/dl (low), K+ 2.2mg/l, anion gap 37, estimation of dehyrdation: 12%.
What is the most likely Dx in this cow?
A) abomasal impaction
B) intussuception of SI
C) cecal volvulus
D) abomasal dilation
E) abomasal volvulus - sequestrum
E) Abosmasal volvulus - sequestrum

Knowing the Dx is abomasal volvulus, what is the prognosis for having a productive dairy cow following surgery?
Guarded to Poor
Prognosis is poor if the Cl- is low, which in this case it is. Normal range is 99-110 and this cows Cl is 71.
sad day.
You observe this lesion on the penis of the bull. After treatment, what is the prognosis for life and reproductive soundness?
Good for life. Good for reproductive soundness.
WARTS!!!
Prognosis for life and reproductive soundness for penile and preputial warts is good.
This 2 day old foal is presented for tarsal valgus. What is the recommended treatment?
A) periosteal stripping
B) tetracycline IV (3g)
C) transphyseal bridging
D) tube or sleeve cast
E) controlled exercise
D) tube or sleeve cast
This 1 day older foal is presented to your clinic. How should this problem be managed?
A) full limb cast
B) phenylbutazone and IV tetracycline
C) controlled exercise
D) shoe with extended toe
E) tenorraphy
C) controlled exercise
What is the prognosis for this foal?
Good!
there IS hope!
