ASI

A

P. Compares static air to ram air pressure (diaphragm connected to pitot tibe expands/contracts as case fills with static air)
I. KIAS with temp adjusted TAS card
M. *Red arc (caution, 20-40) White (flap operating) Green (normal operating) Yellow (Caution) Red line (NE)
P. Ram air/static pressure
L. Max airspeed, only shows KIAS/TAS
E. Mech/installation, position error, compressability error (higher airspeeds than we fly

*Red arc only displayed on G1000

VSI

A

P. Increase/decreasing static pressure (diaphragm connected directly to static line, case connected to static line by restricted orifice.. Diaphragm pressure changes instantly with altitude change, case pressure lags. The diffrence turns the instrument vase to indicate trend and Once climb/descent stabilizes, rate. Pressure slowly equalizes once level, thus returning instrument face to 0).
I. Immediate trend, rate once established and stabilized
M. 100, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 fpm
P. Static pressure
L. Lag time, markings only to 2000 fpm, fpm only
E. Mechanical/installation, calibration

Q

AI

A

P. Rigidity in space ( gyro spins horizontally, resisting deflection, and as the aircraft tirns around the gyro gimbals and linkages turn the indicator face)
I. Direct and immediate display of pitch/bank
M. Bank 10,20, 30, 45, 60 degree bank, horizon line, nose up/down marks
P. Engine driven vaccum pump
L. Tumbles at approx. 60 degree pitch, 100-110 degree roll. Can return to steady (as long as not broken) once pendulous vanes have time to realign instrument
E. Mech/installation, 180 degree turn, accel up/decel down

AHRS

A

Probides attitude information by advanced sensors including accelerometers and rate sensors, and heading info with the magnetometer, which measures the strength of the magnetic field and uses computer information to proved a heading
