What is a pilots today? (Two marks)
A
A small scale trial run of the research before the real main research. Takes place to identify problems and amend them.

What are the aims of a pilot study? (3 to 4 marks)
A
- Check standardise procedures and general design.
- Check the amount of time given to participants to complete the task (link to scenario, what is the task?)
- If a questionnaire or interview make sure questions are clear.
- For observations check coding systems and behavioural categories are understood, check observer/camera in a good position to see behaviours
5.Extraneous variables can be identified and possibly eliminated (link-give an example).
6.Ask participants to discuss the experiences of the experiment.
7.Any problems can be identified and adjusted before the main study
