What is the body tube?
Light passes from the objective lens to the eyepiece through this part of the microscope.
What is the eyepiece?
Where you look into the microscope
What is the coarse adjustment knob ?
You begin your focusing with this part of the microscope.
What is the fine adjustment knob?
Once the object that you would like to view comes into focus, you use this to fine tune the image.
What is the arm?
This supports the entire upper portion of the microscope.
What is the aperture?
This device under the stage controls the amount of light that passes through the stage and into the objective lens.
What is the base?
This is the support for the entire microscope that holds it up.
What is the mirror or lamp?
This provides light so that it is easier to see the object that you are viewing.
What is the legs?
The mirror or lamp is located between these two things.
What is the stage?
The flat place under the objective lenses where the slide/object is placed for viewing.
What are the stage clips?
These two things keep a slide from moving around on the stage.
What are the objective lenses?
Here may be two or three of these mounted on the microscope. Each one magnifies a different power.
What is the nosepiece?
The objective lenses are mounted in this part of the microscope.
