PICS Flashcards

1
Q
A

Single lead electrocardiogram (ECG) showing a ventricular premature beat (VPB)

superimposition is two waves from two foci that come together and average

fully compensated because these two normal ones are the same distance as the three previous normal ones

single pvc with full compensatory pause

Q
A

Single lead electrocardiogram (ECG) showing an interpolated ventricular premature beat (VPB)

time for sa node to depolarize the ventricle, pvc is between two normal sinus beats with no pause, insignificane

3
Q
A

Electrocardiogram (ECG) showing ventricular bigeminy

normal beat and then pvc

insignificant (unimportant like pvc)

if cant tolerate pvc you get a pvc ablation (can rupture left ventricle) dont do too dangerous

Q
A

Complete heart block: Sinus rhythm with slow junctional or idioventricularescape rhythym

ventricular rate is slow so you know it isnt av dissocation

pvs and qrs complexes are not connected so the ventricles are driven by an idioventricular rhythm, p waves are happening, above complete heart block and below ventricular escape rythym

Q
A

Single lead electrocardiogram (ECG) showing monomorphic ventricular tachycardia

can be called fast vt

flutter if around 250-300

atrial flutter is around 300 also

vflutter is not a perfusing rythm so pt will die

Q
A

Single lead electrocardiogram (ECG) showing polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (VT)

vtac usually proarytnmic from drug or a sick heart they are in full blown cardiac arrest, look for hypokalemia and hypomagnesemia

Q
A

Fusion beats

2 waves from same chamber at same time, electromechanical event

so part of ventricle is depolarized from pvc and part from the his purkinje system

superimpostio is electrical event from diff chamber
