Describe the Three Mountains Task.
A
- done by Piaget and Inhelder
- done on children in the pre-operational stage of development
- they were shown 3 mountains with different things on top (cross, house or snow)
- a doll was sat in different positions around the model
- the child was then asked to say what the doll could see but the children only said what they could see as they only understand their own point of view

- from ages 2-7
- child learns to speak
- they develope egocentrism and centration
- is an intuitive age

A
the idea that children focus on certain details of a task and struggle to see it as a whole

- from ages 7-11
- they understand conservation of volume
- no longer egocentric therefore they understand the uniqueness of thoughts and feeling
