Q

strength - supporting evidence (howe et al, 1992)

Q

weakness - opposing theories

A

-piaget underestimates role of others

Q

strength - real world application

A

-pre-1960s = learning passive and silent
-Piaget introduced discovery based learning e.g. peer-learning
-teacher is a facilitator (allows things to happen/flow)
HOWEVER - only works with reading/english and not maths/science

Q

weakness - unrepresentative sample & culture bias

A

-predominately white, middle-class and from well-educated families (bias)
-children from poor backgrounds have fewer opportunities
-can’t explain the cognitive development of all children
