What is the 3rd stage of intellectual development?
Concrete operational (7-11 years)
What is the 4th stage of intellectual development?
Formal operational (age 12 and up)
In which stage is object permanence lacking?

What is the procedure for a study into object permanence?
-child is shown toy
-toy is hidden in front of child under a cloth
-child doesn’t know where the toy is
What is object permanence?

What is the study and procedure into egocentrism?
Piaget and Inhelder (1956)
-children shown model of 3 mountains
-asked to point to the picture that shows the perspective of the adult’s POV
-younger children unable to do this as they can’t see things from others’ perspectives (children over 7 can)

Pre-operational stage
What is an example of the procedure of a study into conservation?
Liquid conservation:
-child asked to say when 2 identical cups contain the same amount of water
-one cup is poured into a different glass
-child believes that the quantities of water are now different
What is conservation?
The ability to recognise that although an objects appearance or position has changed, it is still the same object as before
In which stage of intellectual development is class inclusion lacking?
