What is a schema
The way one thinks and learns it is our way of making sense of the world think of how you describe driving.vs. How a a 5 year old would
What are the 3 ways we make sense of the world around us
Adaption assimilation and accommodation
Adaptation
Occurs as we build schemas through direct interactions with the environment
Assimilation
We use current schemas to interpret the world environment and the people in our environment
Accommodation
Creating new schemas or adjusting old ones when their current way of thinking does not fit the new information
Equilibration
A balancing act the actual changes in thinking take place through this process of searching for a balance
Disequilibrium
If we apply a schemas and the schemas doesn’t work or we become uncomfortable
What are the 4 stages of Piagets four stages
Sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational
Egocentrism
Children see the world and experiences of others from their own perspective, ex kid thinks everyone thinks Spider-Man is the coolest person isn the world
Imaginary audience
The belief that they are the center of attention teens
Personal Fable
They are unique special dramatic they’re are the queen of the ball
