A

An inflammatory response, so the alveolar tissue leaks fluid which blocks absorption of oxygen and exhalation of co2

Name some causes

A

Community acquired pneumonia- picked up at work or school
Ventilator acquired pneumonia- where bacteria or a virus gets inside the tube that is inserted in mouth or nose and delivers o2
Aspiration- inhaling something like vomit into the lungs
