What is the hypothalamus responsible for?
Hypothalamus - Homeostasis. The ‘big boss’ of overall integration of the ANS.
What is the brainstem responsible for?
‘Mail-sorting centre’ - takes information from above & below and decides where to distribute it
Reticular formation
Most direct control over ANS function
- controls preganglionic neurons in spinal cord (which connects CNS to ANS)
Rostral ventrolateral medulla ? (RVLM)
Origin of normal & reflex control of sympathetic cardiac activity
Parasympathetic ANS preganglionic fibres…
- Craniosacral
- Thoracocolumbar
Craniosacral division
