Physics Quiz 1 Flashcards
Electricity
A form of energy resulting from the existence of charged particles
(such as electrons or protons), either statically as an accumulation of charge or dynamically as a current.
Current Electricity
When charged particles (usually electrons) move from one place to another.
Dynamic
Constantly changing, progressing, or active.
Static
Not moving or not changing.
Static Electricity
A net charge that is being temporarily held in one place.
Insulator
A material that does not allow electrons to move easily.
Conductor
A material that does allow electrons to move freely.
Electrical Current
The flow of electrons past a point in a certain amount of time.
Ammeter
The machine that measures the amount of AMPS.
Voltmeter
The machine that measures the amount of volts.
Resistance
The property of any material that slows down the flow of electrons or current in an electrical circuit.
Resistor
An electrical component that limits or regulates the flow of electrons or current in an electrical circuit.
Series Circuit
An electrical circuit with only one possible pathway for the current to follow.
