8
Q

Why does gas exert a pressure?

A

Gas molecules move - high speeds, collide exert force, lots - gas molecules colide with surface area causes pressue

9
Q

Atmouspheric pressure varies with the height

A

Closer - earth surface greater - air pressure
Higher less gas molecules exerting pressure, causes tempurature - decrease, less gas molecules + moving slower, also means less molecules exerting force = decrease - atmouspheric pressure

Q

Hydraulics pressure

A

Hydraulic systems use - principle pressure - transmitted throughout liquid.
They - used transfer movement from one part of machine - another without linking parts mechanically.
All hydraulic systems use two pistons (1 master piston and other slave pistons) linked via pipe which carries special oil called hydraulic fluid.
Pressure that leaves the system is the same as the pressure that entered

Q

Pressure

A

When weight is on a surface it exerts a force on an object, smaller the objects surface area the stronger the pressure

16
Q

Pivot

A

the point around which the object can rotate or turn.

17
Q

Moment

A

Turning effect of a force depends on force applied and how far from the pivot it is

18
Q

Law of moments

A

Object in equilibrium - sum of clockwise moments = sum of anticlockwise moments

19
Q

Centre of gravity(centre of mass)

A

Centre gravit above pivot no turning force but if centre of gravity left/right of pivot there is a turning force

20
Q

Perpendicular distance from the pivot(m) calculation

A

Perpendicular distance from the pivot(m)=Moments(Nm)/Force(N)

21
Q

Force(N) calculation

A

Force(N)=Moments(Nm)/perpendicular distance from the pivot(m)

22
Q

Moments (Nm) calculation

A

Moments(Nm)=Force(N)xperpendicular distance from the pivot (m)

23
Q

Fluid

A

Something with no fixed shape

24
Q

Cause of atmouspheric pressure

A

Wheight of air above a surface
