16
Q

Whats the calculation for resistance?

A

Resistance (Ω) = potential difference (V) ÷ current (A)

17
Q

what year was electricity discovered?

A

HEY ANANYA :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))0

18
Q

whats ohms law?

A

The current that flows through it is directly proportional to the potential difference.
This means if you double the potential difference the current will also double.

19
Q

what charge do neutrons have?

A

NONE they’re neutral hahahahahaha

20
Q

what charge do electrons have?

A

electrons have a NEGATIVE charge

21
Q

What charge do protons have?

A

NONE they’re neutral hahahahahahaha

no u dummy they have a positive charge

22
Q

What happens when an atom looses an electron?

a: becomes positively charged
b: becomes neutral
c: becomes negatively charged

A

a: the atom becomes positively charged

{so if it gains an electron it becomes negatively charged because electrons have a negative charge}

23
Q

Do two oppositely charged particles attract or repel?

A

ATTRACT

24
Q

What is static electricity caused by?

A

Static electricity is caused by negatively charged electrons jumping from one material to another.
When you rub two insulating materials together, one substance will lose electrons the other will gain electrons.
If you rub a cloth on a plastic rod the cloth will rub off electrons. If this happens:
The cloth will gain electrons and so become negatively charged.
The plastic rod will lose electrons and so become positively charged.
This is why a balloon will stick to the wall after you have rubbed it on your head.

25
Q

True or false? electricity is a contact force.

A

False

26
Q

How can you see magnetic field lines

A

sprinkle iron fillings around a magnet or with a plotting compass

27
Q

What creates an magnetic field around earth?

A

The iron core (some people describe it like a giant bar magnet)

28
Q

How can you make an electromagnet stronger?

A

increasing the turns of coils of wire around the iron core, or increasing the current.

29
Q

what can you find electromagnets in?

A
Television sets.
Maglev trains.
MRI machines.
Loudspeakers.
Scrapyard cranes that are able to pick up and move vehicles.
Electric bells.
30
Q

Whats a slendiod?

A

a coil of wire

31
Q

Can a current flow through an open switch?

A

nope only through a closed switch

32
Q

What is a diode ?

A

A diode only allows current through one direction

33
Q

What is amps short for ?

A

Amperes
