Physics Experiment Flashcards
What is Physics?
The branch of science concerned with the nature and properties of matter and energy.
What is Motion?
The action or process of moving.
What is Position?
A place where someone or something is located.
What is Magnitude?
Basically, it is the distance or size of something.
What is Distance (length)?
The amount of ground an object covered during its motion
What is the Distance Formula?
The Distance Formula is: Ending Distance - Starting Distance
What is Direction?
A course along which someone or something moves (east, west, north, south, right, left, up, down, forward, backward).
In math, what does a positive number represent when talking about direction?
In math, when talking about direction, positive numbers usually mean right or up.
What is a Vector?
A quantity with magnitude and direction.
What is a Scalar?
A scalar is a quantity without the direction, only the magnitude.
What is Displacement?
A vector quantity that describes how far out of place something is.
What does a negative number represent when talking about direction?
In math, when talking about direction, negative numbers usually means left or down.
What is Time?
How long something lasts.
What is Velocity?
Velocity is a vector quantity that describes how fast an object is being displaced, or in other words, displacement/time.
What is Speed?
Speed is a scalar quantity that describes how fast something is moving (Distance/Time).
