Power
Power = energy / time
GPE
The energy store that increases with height.
Ep = Mass x Gravity x height
kinetic energy
The energy store that comes form the mass of the object and the velocity it travels at
Ek = 1/2 x mass x velocity^2
Specific heat capacity
Amount of energy needed to change the temperature of 1kg of a substance by 1C
Elastic potential energy
The entry store in objects that stretch
Useful energy
Energy that is transferred to where it is wanted and in the form it is wanted
Wasted energy
Eventually transferred to outside surroundings to the gear store
Efficiency
= useful energy output/ total energy input
Renewable energy
Can be replaced or regenerated and will never run out.
- solar, wind,tidal,biofuel,hydro,nuclear,geothermal
Non renewable
Resources that will eventually runout. Once they have been used they cannot be used again.
- fuels, gas oil
