Physics Flashcards
What is renewable energy
A natural source of energy that will not run out.
How do you calculate wave speed
Wave speed = frequency times wave length m
What is refraction
When sound and light waves change speed as they pass through a different medium with a different density
What things can effect thinking distance
.being tired
.distracted
.under the influence of drugs or alcohol
How do you calculate stopping distance
Stopping distance = thinking distance + braking distance
How do you work out the distance on a velocity time graph.
Work out the area below the line represents the distance
What’s Newton’s third law of motion
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
What do we use microwaves for.
Mobile phones and cooking.
What’s newtons 2nd law of motion
The bigger the unbalanced force the bigger the acceleration.
What do we use gamma rays for.
Medical diagnosis and terminating/killing cancer cells.
What’s friction
When two surfaces slide past each other creating heat.
What do we use ultraviolet waves for
Uv rays pick up marks and substances the naked eye can’t see.
How do you work out acceleration
Acceleration = change in velocity (m/s) / time taken (s)
How do you calculate wave length
Wave speed/frequency
What’s newtons 1st law of motion
Objects with balanced forces acting upon them with stay at rest or stay in constant motion until another force acts on it.
